Glaucoma

shutterstock_174047492Glaucoma is an extremely common, often hereditary condition in which the nerve connecting the eye to the brain becomes damaged. Most cases are gradual and without symptoms, but angle-closure glaucoma is an acute medical emergency and its symptoms include eye pain with nausea and sudden visual disturbance. There is no cure, but eye drops, medication, and surgery can slow down the progression of the disease and improve patients’ quality of life.
