Age-Related Macular Degeneration
Age-related macular degeneration is the deterioration of the macula, a small central area of the retina of the eye that controls visual acuity. Waste products accumulate under the retina, and abnormal blood vessels may grow, resulting in swelling, bleeding and scarring, and blurred vision is a main symptom. There is no cure but a combination of vitamins and minerals and injections may have beneficial results.
