LenSx femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS)
The incisions made in the cornea and lens during cataract surgery may be performed manually with a combination of surgical blades, forceps, needles, choppers and/or scissors, or they may be made with a laser in order to achieve greater precision, predictability of the final outcome and correction of astigmatism.
Dr. Clark is very experienced in both techniques. He has been using femtosecond lasers for a decade, and in particular the Alcon femtosecond laser throughout 2016. Ophthalmology Associates is proud to offer Alcon’s LenSx® femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS), also known as laser refractive cataract surgery (LRCS), at the Heritage Valley Surgical Center in Moon Township.
The upgrade from traditional manual surgery to laser-assisted surgery is not covered by insurance. Our physicians and counselors will help you decide which surgical approach is most appropriate to your eyes and your lifestyle.
