Dr. Allan Press, MD
Dr. Allan Press specializes in medical ophthalmology, after performing intraocular surgery for 40 years. In addition to his comprehensive practice, he does in-office laser procedures and minor surgery.
Dr. Press graduated from St Peter’s College in New Jersey and received his M.D. from the State University of New York, Upstate Medical University. He served as a medical officer in the U.S. Navy, rising to the rank of Lt. Commander, and then completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Pittsburgh and has been on the staff of Sewickley Valley and Ohio Valley hospitals.
Dr. Press has served as a preceptor at the Falk Eye Clinic, assisted at the former WDUQ radio station and the Denis Theater Foundation, and worked as a laborer at Habitat for Humanity.
He is currently serving with the Office of Veterans Experience at the VA Hospital in Oakland and assisting with projects for Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh.
He is a member of the Greater Pittsburgh Officials Association, for which he referees basketball.
Dr. Press is a Life Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is the proud “Pepe” of 10 grandchildren.
